Triple Mitsubishi FX2N-10GM Positioning Module – High-Performance Motion Control for Industrial Automation
Mitsubishi Positioning Module FX2N-10GM
The Mitsubishi FX2N-10GM positioning module is a single-axis controller with no interpolation capability. It features 3.8k steps of built-in EEPROM program memory and supports PLCs such as FX1N, FX2N, FX3U, and FX2NC/FX3UC (with appropriate adapters). It handles single-speed, interrupt, and multi-speed positioning, and can operate independently without a PLC. Up to 8 units can be connected to FX1N/FX2N/FX3U PLCs, 4 to FX2NC, and 7 to FX3UC. It outputs up to 200 kHz pulse trains, supports position detection and manual pulse generator connection, and can be programmed using flow-chart-based software for visual program development.
The Mitsubishi FX2N-10GM positioning module is a dedicated single-axis control unit designed for precise motion control applications. It supports the control of one axis per module and does not offer interpolation functions, making it ideal for independent axis positioning rather than coordinated multi-axis movement.
The module is equipped with a built-in 3.8k-step EEPROM for program memory, allowing for the storage and execution of positioning sequences without requiring a constant connection to a PLC. It is compatible with a range of Mitsubishi PLCs, including the FX1N, FX2N, FX3U, and FX2NC (the latter requiring the FX2NC-CNV-IF adapter). For FX3UC models, either the FX2NC-CNV-IF or the FX3UC-1PS-5V interface is needed.
Beyond basic single-speed positioning and interrupt positioning, the FX2N-10GM can handle complex control tasks such as multi-speed operation. It is capable of standalone operation, meaning it can execute pre-programmed motion profiles without being connected to a PLC.
Up to eight FX2N-10GM modules can be connected to an FX1N, FX2N, or FX3U PLC, while a maximum of four modules can be used with an FX2NC PLC, and up to seven modules with an FX3UC PLC. This allows for independent control of multiple axes in a single system.
The module can output pulse trains at a maximum frequency of 200 kHz, enabling high-speed positioning. It also includes a position detection function and supports the connection of a manual pulse generator (handwheel) for manual jogging or fine-tuning.
Programming is facilitated through flowchart-based software, which allows users to develop visual, intuitive programs for motion control sequences. This graphical approach simplifies the development and debugging of positioning routines, making the module accessible even for users with limited programming experience.
